home -> useful information -> leadcore line trolling depths

Hot Tip — Leadcore

The thing to remember with weighted lines is the angle through the water is constant from the surface to the leader. If your lure is at a depth of five feet when you spool out ten yards of line, with 20 yards of line your lure will be at 10 feet deep; with 30 yards of line it is 145 feet deep and with 100 yards of line out is it is 50 feet deep (see chart). This is much different than downrigger cable because the weight on the end of your rigger cable contributes the most to sway back.
